NMU honors student killed in crash

MARQUETTE, MI--   Northern Michigan University is lowering its flag Wednesday in honor of a student who passed over the weekend. 

Keara Bullen, 19, of Mason died in an auto accident in downstate Bingham Township Sunday. She was a freshman majoring in marketing. Keara was a highly successful high school soccer player and was a former member of NMU’s women’s team. She lived in Van Antwerp Hall.

NMU extends condolences to Keara’s family, suitemates, friends and classmates during their time of loss.

The NMU flag is lowered to half-staff and campus messages are sent after the passing of current students, faculty and staff, and after consultation with immediate family.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
