MAPS education foundation says school closures won't affect seniors' awards

MARQUETTE, MI--   Officials with the Education Foundation for Marquette Public Schools say seniors who earned education awards before schools closed will get them.

Foundation President Linda Winslow says the group’s May event will look different because of the need for social distancing. The foundation is partnering with teachers and the community to develop a ceremony that celebrates graduates’ achievements and honors the governor’s “stay home” order.

Winslow says information about the awards ceremony will come through school email accounts.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
