NEH grant supports Native American Studies project

MARQUETTE, MI--   Northern Michigan University has received a grant for a Center for Native American Studies project.

The $170,000 comes from the National Endowment for the Humanities. It will be used to support a sustainable online programming project. The money will offset a percentage of salary and benefits for the Native American Studies faculty and director as they better prepare to deliver the curriculum online.

Project director Martin Reinhardt says converting course material to video and online formats will also help the center reach a broader population.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
