Word banishment approaches!

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   It’s time to get rid of words and phrases that are overused, redundant, oxymoronic, clichéd, illogical, nonsensical—and otherwise ineffective, baffling or irritating.

Lake Superior State University says the deadline for submissions to its annual Banished Words List is November 30.

Every New Year since 1976 LSSU has published the list of words and terms people love to hate. People from around the world have submitted tens of thousands of entries over the years. A committee will make the cut for the 45th Annual list in December.

No “fake news” or “quid pro quo” here. To submit an entry for consideration go to lssu.edu/banishedwords2021.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
