UPDATE: Gwinn school activities canceled Monday night, classes resume on Tuesday

UPDATE: Forsyth Township Police say they've resolved the threat to the district. Classes in all Gwinn schools resume on Tuesday.

GWINN, MI— All activities on Gwinn school campuses were canceled Monday evening, as officials continued to investigate a threat of violence posted on social media over the weekend.

Superintendent Brandon Bruce says schools were closed for the day and the district began working with law enforcement after the threat was received. He says the investigation kept authorities busy throughout the day. As of Monday afternoon, police were still trying to track down the root of the message to ensure the safety of the school community.

Bruce said he felt it was best to keep district campuses closed until the sender of the threat has been identified or authorities can ensure a safe return for students. He said he’s optimistic officials will have information that will allow them to reopen Gwinn schools on Tuesday, but if they don’t, parents and students will be notified via School Messenger.
