Gwinn Schools looking to fill Board of Education seats

GWINN, MI— Gwinn Area Community Schools has two spots to fill on its Board of Education this November.

The vacancies are two terms of six years, beginning January 1, 2023 and ending December 31, 2028.

Nominating petition forms are available at the Forsyth, Sands, Skandia and West Branch Township Offices, as well as the Marquette County Clerk’s Office. An affidavit of identity and completed petition form must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26 to the respective township office or Marquette County Clerk. At least six valid elector signatures are required, and each petition form must contain signatures from one township only.

A $100 nonrefundable filing fee may be filed in lieu of a petition.

The school election will be held on Tuesday, November 8.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
