MARQUETTE, MI— The Marquette Area Public Schools Education Board is hosting a meeting next week to discuss the children’s savings account field.
The Community Economic Development Association of Michigan and Michigan Children’s Savings Account Network will talk about establishing college savings accounts for young children. Officials say low-income students with as little as $500 in a dedicated college savings account are five times more likely to graduate from college than those without an account.
Panelists representing CSAs from around the Upper Peninsula will talk about launching their programs and how entities can launch their own.
The event takes place July 28 at noon at NMU’s Peninsula Room V.
