LSSU president resigns

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI— Lake Superior State University will start looking for a new president soon.

The school’s Board of Trustees has accepted the resignation of Dr. Rod Hanley, who has been in the post since 2018.

LSSU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Lynn Gillette, has been appointed interim president effective immediately. The board will begin a national search for a permanent replacement shortly.

That follows the resignation of Gogebic Community College President George McNulty. He’ll be leaving his position on June 30.

At a March 22 meeting, the GCC Board of Trustees approved the start of a search for his replacement.

McNulty was president for the past four years.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
