Gwinn Schools superintendent resigning

GWINN, MI— The superintendent of Gwinn Area Community Schools is leaving his job, effective June 30th.

In a Facebook post Sunday, Brandon Bruce said last week he was contacted and offered a job in the Hart Public Schools district downstate. He was the principal of Hart High School for three years, then came up to work in Gwinn.

Bruce said although he wasn’t looking to leave the U.P., the decision is the best for his family.

Bruce noted he hoped the work and focus on a $45 million bond proposal to build an elementary building onto the current middle and high school building doesn’t slow down. He said doing so would support the educational needs of the students for the next 30 years.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
