LANSING, MI— Two state science, technology, engineering, and math grants are headed to a couple of Upper Peninsula schools.
The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity's MiSTEM Network is giving the money in an effort to bolster STEM and STEAM—which includes art—throughout the state.
The Adams Township School District is getting $16,000 for a hydroponic farming program. Food produced will be used in school lunches.
And the Hancock Public Schools District is getting $18,000 to develop and enhance STEM and STEAM curricula. Officials say it aims to prepare students for opportunities with local manufacturers.
