Hancock schools superintendent leaving

HANCOCK, MI— The superintendent of Hancock Public Schools has resigned.

Steve Patchin notified the school board in June of his intention to leave. The board approved his resignation at its July 17th meeting.

Patchin came to the position in 2019, after teaching in Dollar Bay Schools. He’ll stay on as superintendent through September 30th.

There’s no word yet on whether an interim superintendent will be named or if the district will immediately post for the job.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
