NMU cybersecurity director named to state committee

MARQUETTE, MI— Michael Sauer, director of the Upper Peninsula Cybersecurity Institute at NMU, has been nominated to the State’s Cybersecurity Planning Committee for the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program.

The committee is chartered by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget. It helps entities address cybersecurity risks and threats to information systems owned or operated by or on behalf of state, local, and territorial governments. The committee also helps develop a state cybersecurity plan and identify projects that can be implemented with SLCGP funding.

The committee is chaired by Michigan Cybersecurity Officer Jayson Cavendish. He and other program managers will be traveling to Northern to attend the Upper Peninsula Cybersecurity Symposium on September-25th. They’ll discuss the SLCGP program and funding opportunities with attendees.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
