Hancock schools select new superintendent

ABC10/CW5

The Hancock Public Schools District has a permanent superintendent.

Chris Salani was chosen by the Board of Education this week. He has served as interim superintendent since August, when former superintendent Steve Patchin resigned. Salani says he plans to focus first on filling vacant high school principal and athletic director positions. He was born, raised, and educated in Hancock.

Officials say Salani was the only internal candidate for the job.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
