A Conversation with the President: Copperwood, NMU's $2.5 million NIH grant, and Colwitz conducts state honors choir

Northern Michigan University President Brock Tessman stopped by to speak with Nicole Walton about NMU rescinding support for the Copperwood mine project. He also talked about a $2.5 million National Institutes of Health grant NMU received to address addiction and poverty and highlighted a faculty accomplishment: Dr. Erin Colwitz was selected to conduct the SATB High School Honors Choir at the 20th annual Michigan Music Conference Jan. 23-25 in Grand Rapids.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
