New superintendent chosen for Negaunee Public Schools district

NEGAUNEE, MI— The Negaunee Public Schools Board of Education has selected a new superintendent.

Middle School Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Andy Skewis will take over the role after current superintendent Dan Skewis retires this summer.

The Board worked with the Michigan Association of School Boards on the candidate selection process. The two finalists were interviewed during its April 29th meeting and board members unanimously selected Skewis.

Officials say he has worked for NPS for the past 25 years and has a strong foundation of professional experiences and relationships that will support his new educational leadership role.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
