Nicole Blemberg named interim head of NMU Foundation

MARQUETTE, MI— An interim CEO has been appointed at the NMU Foundation.

Nicole Blemberg takes over for Brad Canale, who is leaving after nine years at the post.

Blemberg is a 2004 NMU English graduate who has been a member of the NMU Foundation Board of Directors since Fall 2023. She most recently served as assistant vice president of college & regional advancement at Marquette University in Milwaukee.

As a member of Marquette University's advancement leadership team, she served as a critical leader during MU's Time to Rise campaign, which concluded in 2024 surpassing its goal of $750 million.

Northern Interim President Gavin Leach says a national search for the position will take place once the new NMU president has been selected.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
