Emily Geiger selected as next Lake Linden-Hubbell superintendent

LAKE LINDEN, MI— The Lake Linden-Hubbell School District has a new interim superintendent.

At a special meeting Monday night, the Board of Education selected Emily Geiger to fill the role. She replaces Copper Country Intermediate School District Superintendent James Rautiola, who served as interim super since November 1, when he replaced Craig Sundblad.

The high turnover rate follows the retirement of former Superintendent Brad Codere in June. A number of concerns regarding Codere had been brought to the Board’s attention.

Geiger has degrees in biochemistry and molecular biology from Michigan Tech and received her doctorate in 2015. Since 2023, Geiger has worked with the Copper Country ISD as the MiSTEM Regional Network Director in the Western Upper Peninsula.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
