Officials investigate alleged 'hit list' at Bothwell Middle School

MARQUETTE, MI— Officers with the Marquette Police Department were called to Bothwell Middle School in Marquette Wednesday, following reports of a threat of violence.

In a message to families, Bothwell Principal Bobby Reichel said the administration was made aware of a report that a student had allegedly created a “hit list.”

Police responded and assisted in a thorough investigation. Reichel said after careful review, officials were confident there was no threat or imminent danger at Bothwell.

He says the school takes all threats seriously and the administration is committed to transparent communication with families whenever safety concerns arise.

Reichel encourages parents and guardians to speak with their children about the seriousness and potential consequences of making statements or participating in conversations that imply harm to others.
