Secure Action initiated at Breitung Township Schools during off-campus incident

KINGSFORD, MI— Breitung Township Schools went on lockdown Wednesday morning, following an off-campus incident in the community.

To ensure the safety of students and staff, the district initiated a Secure Action under the guidance of school resource officers and Kingsford Public Safety. All exterior doors were locked and no individuals were permitted to enter or leave the buildings. Classes and indoor activities continued as scheduled.

The off-campus situation was resolved just before 1 p.m., and the Secure Action was lifted.

End-of-day dismissal procedures took place as normal and after-school activities were held as usual.
