MARQUETTE, MI— Northern Michigan University will honor those who lost their lives on September 11th by holding several activities.
Friday at 8:46 a.m., NMU’s carillon tower bells will be rung, and a moment of silence will follow in observance of the time the first plane hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
NMU will also hold a tribute for 1985 alumnus, Lt. Col. Kip Taylor, who died when American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon. Members of the campus and Marquette communities will gather at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Veteran Rock on the Northern Center lawn. NMU’s Department of Military Science and ROTC program will present the colors and a 9/11 memorial flag in Taylor’s honor, and a speech will be given.
Thursday through Saturday of next week, NMU will hold three performances of Find a TV, a theater production portraying the reaction of people on campus and in the U.P. on the day of 9/11.
