LANSING, MI— Governor Gretchen Whitmer has signed bills that support university and college capital outlay project authorizations across the state.
Senate Bill 729 provides exceptions to the limit of outstanding obligations the State Building Authority can have, allowing for additional capital outlay.
House Bill 5482 allows the legislature to appropriate State Building Authority rental payments for new capital outlay project constructions in alignment with the completion of projects and State Building Authority long-term financing.
Planning authorizations in the Upper Peninsula include Lake Superior State University for its Center for Applied Science and Engineering Technology and Michigan Tech for its Center for Convergence and Innovation.
Construction authorizations include Northern Michigan University for the Northern Enterprise Center and Bay de Noc Community College for its Manufacturing Innovation and Training Center.
