MARQUETTE, MI— High school juniors and seniors without plans to go to college can see how their interests can turn into careers during an event at NMU November 6.

MiKickoff is designed to help students connect their interests, strengths, and ambitions to clear next steps after high school. The event will include sessions on mechanical and electrical engineering, rehabilitation science, K-12 teaching, computer science, mathematics, nursing, fisheries and wildlife management, and welding, among other topics. Each session will include a hands-on learning experience.

The event will also include an Industry and Academic Expo, giving students the opportunity to speak with faculty and industry professionals in those same career fields.

More information is available by calling NMU Admissions at 906-227-2650.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
