State begins certifying election results

DETROIT, MI (MPRN)— Almost 4.5 million Michigan residents voted in Tuesday’s elections.

State officials say it marks the highest turnout ever in a Michigan midterm election.

At a news conference Wednesday, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson says with the election over, the process of certifying results begins.

“The law requires partisan boards of county canvassers to now complete their work and certify election results by November 22 And then the bipartisan board of state canvassers has a responsibility to do the same by November 28.”

Benson says any requests for a recount would need to be made after November 28.
