Delta recall results certified Friday

ESCANABA, MI— The Delta County Board of Canvassers has finally certified the results of the May 7th recall election.

Robert Barron, David Moyle, and Robert Petersen were defeated by wide margins by Myra Croasdell, Kelli van Ginhoven, and Matthew Jensen. Following the election, the two Republican canvassers—Bonnie Hakkola and LeeAnn Oman—refused to certify the vote.

Jonathan Brater, Director of Elections Secretary for the Michigan Board of State Canvassers, sent a letter to the Delta County canvassers last week, ordering them to certify the results. The board finally voted to certify Friday evening. Bonnie Hakkola abstained from voting.

Three out of the four board members needed to vote “yes” for certification.
