More than 3,600 signatures needed to put MAPS Board members recall on ballot

MARQUETTE, MI— Marquette trademark attorney Margaret Brumm has less than two months to get signatures to recall two Marquette Area Public Schools Board members in November.

Last week, the Marquette County Election Commission ruled recall language Brumm submitted against Jennifer Ray and Jennifer Klipp was clear. The recall petition stated the board members voted to change the MSHS “Redmen” and “Redettes” nickname to “Sentinels.”

Brumm—a candidate for the 109th District House seat—now has until August 2 to collect more than 3,600 signatures to put the recall on the ballot.

Also last week, a petition to recall Brumm from the Marquette Board of Light and Power was deemed insufficiently clear to proceed.
