Board of Canvassers certifies Marquette County election results

MARQUETTE, MI— A certification of Marquette County’s November 5th election results has changed the results of one race.

The Board of Canvassers finalized the results Tuesday.

Initially, Leonard Bodenus was declared Forsyth Township Treasurer. But County Clerk Linda Talsma says an upload didn’t come in appropriately last week and the board changed the winner to Ross Underwood, who won by 90 votes.

All other results have been finalized.

The Board of Canvassers is responsible for ensuring the integrity and legality of all activities related to an election.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
