MARQUETTE, MI— Lake Superior Region Indivisible is holding a nonpartisan 1st Congressional District candidate forum Saturday in Marquette.

LSRI elections volunteer Loretta Maestas says every candidate vying for incumbent Rep. Jack Bergman’s seat has been invited. Bergman and Democrat Callie Barr have not responded to the invitation. Those who will attend include Republican Justin Michal, Independent Zebulon Featherly, and Democrats Kyle Blomquist and Wayne Stiles.

Maestas says the forum’s topics of discussion will be determined by questions supplied by the attendees.

“Really, we want the attendees… this is for them, this is for the voters. We want them to have an opportunity to present their issues to the candidates.”

The forum takes place Saturday from 2-4 p.m. at the Northern Center ballrooms on NMU’s campus. Attendees can submit questions if they register, or before the event begins. The registration link is here.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
