MARQUETTE, MI— The 25th low-income solar project in the Upper Peninsula—and the first in Marquette—has been installed by the Superior Watershed Partnership Great Lakes Climate Corps.

The panels are designed to provide more than 30 percent of household energy needs, reduce carbon emissions, and reduce energy bills.

The SWP has secured local, state, and private grant funding for the program. Upper Peninsula Power Company has also provided funding to support the project for UPPCO customers.

The SWP is also launching a cooperative initiative to assist local units of government in coordinating and streamlining the solar permitting process.

More information is available from the SWP Energy and Climate Office at 906-272-2742.
