MARQUETTE, MI— Upper Peninsula Power Company has donated $200,000 to the Superior Watershed Partnership Energy and Climate Office.

The money is meant to enhance SWP’s ability to deliver energy assistance to income-eligible customers and expand energy efficiency programs for low-income customers.

The donation will enable the SWP to offer energy assistance to UPPCO customers in the United Way ALICE—or Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed—population. Qualifications include income within 151 percent to 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Level and a past due bill.

The Partnership’s Great Lakes Climate Corps helps Upper Peninsula residents reach energy security through energy assessments, weatherizations, utility referrals, and residential solar installation.
