MARQUETTE, MI--   This weekend’s Baraga Avenue Harvest Festival has been cancelled due to a forecast of wind and rain on Saturday.

The Marquette Downtown Development Authority says several of the integral parts of the festival, originally scheduled for 3 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, cannot proceed in inclement weather.

The Upper Peninsula Children's Museum's Paint Baraga Avenue chalk painting contest will move to the Westwood Mall. Registration can be completed in person at the mall during the event, which will run from 1 to 6 p.m.

The U.P. Children’s Museum’s Facebook page will have up-to-the-minute details.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
