Moving mine parts to slow traffic in Delta, Marquette counties overnight Tuesday

MARQUETTE, MI— Drivers on the road between Gladstone and the Tilden Mine area can expect delays Tuesday night.

Large dump truck components will be transported to the mine, temporarily blocking traffic. The move is planned to start at 10 p.m. and last until 5 a.m., depending on the weather.

The load will travel on Delta County roads to M-35, then north on M-35 to M-553. The route continues on Marquette County Road 480 and then back onto M-35 to the mine.

Traffic delays will occur as the haul rig blocks lanes, traveling at low speeds. The rig will be pulled over periodically so traffic can pass.

A second move, planned for Thursday night, has been postponed and will be rescheduled.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
