Iron Range Roll to raise money for YMCA programs

MARQUETTE COUNTY, MI— Bicyclists will compete, have fun, and raise money on Marquette County’s Iron Ore Heritage Trail Saturday.

The 12-mile Iron Range Roll is a fundraiser for the YMCA of Marquette County’s youth programs.

Participants will start at the Cliffs Shaft Mine Museum in Ishpeming at 1 p.m. They’ll follow the trail through Negaunee and Negaunee Township and end the race near Barrel and Beam in Marquette Township. An after-party will be held at the brewery.

Last year, the Iron Range Roll raised more than $10,000 for YMCA youth programs. Over the past ten years the event has donated more than $50,000 to the Y.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
