Negaunee competing for Community Excellence Award

mml.org

NEGAUNEE, MI— The City of Negaunee is one of four finalists for the Michigan Municipal League’s 2025 Community Excellence Award.

The CEA was developed in 2007 to recognize innovative placemaking projects and programs across the state. Finalists are determined by a small voting board, and they compete at the League’s convention, where attendees vote for their favorite project.

Negaunee was selected for its Downtown Enhancement Project. It was undertaken to reverse decades of disrepair and neglect to create a downtown focused on visually and physically creating connections that foster a sense of pride and community spirit.

The city is competing with the City of Hart, the Village of Milford, and the Village of Roscommon for the CEA trophy.

The winner will be selected September 18.
