ISHPEMING, MI— Residents are invited to partake in a free Thanksgiving meal in Ishpeming this year, thanks to the efforts of the group Community Dinners Feeding Marquette County.
Event Coordinator Dawn Lambert says the event—now in its sixth year—is sponsored by community members with help from a grant from the Elks National Foundation.
Lambert says the meals are available to anyone and everyone.
“There’s no income constraint; there’s no age constraint. It’s open to anybody. You might be an empty nester, you might have lost a loved one, you just wanna come and hang out with other people.”
Lambert asks residents to call 906-451-4951 and leave a message to sign up for dine-in, takeout, or a delivered meal if they live in Marquette County.
Dine-in and takeout will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Ishpeming Elks Lodge on Thanksgiving Day. The sign-up deadline is Tuesday, November 25 by 5 p.m.
Volunteers will also be welcomed.
