CopperDog slated this weekend in the Keweenaw

CALUMET, MI— The Keweenaw Peninsula has received over 277 inches of snow so far this season, which is great news for the running of this weekend’s CopperDog sled dog race.

Stage 1 starts Friday night in Calumet and ends in Eagle Harbor. Stage 2 begins Saturday morning in Eagle Harbor and concludes in Copper Harbor. Stage 3 starts Sunday morning in Copper Harbor and ends in Laurium. A number of other sled dog-related activities are also scheduled throughout the weekend, including weight pulls and a CopperDash for kids.

As of Monday, 21 teams from the U.S. and Canada were registered.

The opening ceremony takes place Friday at 6:30 p.m. on the 200 block of 5th Street in Calumet. More information is at www.copperdog.org/events.
