House consumed by fire in Gogebic County

BESSEMER, MI— A home in Bessemer has been destroyed by fire.

The Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched Tuesday around 7:30 a.m. to the 300 block of East Lead Street and found the house fully engulfed. All occupants of the house had evacuated by the time firefighters arrived.

Deputies say the fire seems to have started by a generator that was running adjacent to the house.

US-2 was closed for a time to keep traffic away from the blaze.

Several neighboring fire departments assisted at the scene. No injuries were reported.
