Wells Township family homeless following fire

WELLS TOWNSHIP, MI— A Wells Township residence was destroyed by fire Wednesday morning.

The Escanaba Public Safety Department was dispatched around 6:05 to a home on M.5 Lane in Wells Township. Firefighters battled the flames for about two hours, but the residence was a total loss.

All occupants of the house were able to get out safely. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
