Fire destroys Ironwood home

IRONWOOD, MI— The Ironwood Public Safety Department was called to an early-morning house fire on the 900 block of East Pine Street on Tuesday.

Reports indicated it was a chimney fire, but when firefighters arrived it became clear the entire house was involved. Due to sub-freezing weather and a nearby exposed home, the Hurley Fire Department was called in to help.

All residents were able to escape the home. They’re being assisted by the Red Cross.

No injuries were reported.

The home is considered to be a total loss.
