Officers respond to chimney fire in Wells Township

WELLS TOWNSHIP, MI— Fire severely damaged a Wells Township house Tuesday.

Escanaba Department of Public Safety officers were dispatched around 9:20 p.m. to 2888 17.75 Lane on a report of a chimney fire. The south side of the house and the roof were fully engulfed when officers arrived. They remained at the scene for about three hours, putting out the flames.

Agencies assisting at the scene included the Escanaba Township Fire Department, the Ford River Township Fire Department, the Bark River Township Fire Department, Rampart EMS, UPPCO, and the Red Cross.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
