Ishpeming Township fire victim identified

ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP, MI— Michigan State Police have released the name of the person who died in an Ishpeming Township house fire.

Troopers from the Negaunee Post were dispatched early Monday morning. When they arrived, a deceased man was found in the house. He’s identified as 70-year-old Roger McCoy, the owner of the residence.

Officials say no foul play is suspected.

The Michigan State Police Fire Marshal investigated the scene.

Troopers were assisted by the Ishpeming Township Fire Department.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
