Marquette Township business damaged by fire

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI— Two people suffered smoke inhalation when fire hit a Marquette Township business Monday morning.

Marquette Township Fire & Rescue was dispatched to Range Telecommunications at 2342 US-41 West around 1 a.m. and found the rear entrance door on fire. Two employees had escaped the building but suffered from smoke inhalation.

The Chocolay Township and Marquette City fire departments also responded to the scene and got the fire under control within 20 minutes.

The building suffered moderate fire, smoke, and water damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
