Human remains found inside burnt vehicle in Ewing Township

EWING TOWNSHIP, MI— Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post are investigating a fatal car fire in Marquette County.

Friday around 3:20 a.m., troopers were dispatched to W. Maple Ridge Road in Ewing Township on a report a car was in flames in the middle of the road. Firefighters from the Tri-Township Fire Department put out the fire before police arrived. After the fire was extinguished, a deceased person was found inside the burnt remains of the vehicle.

Troopers say the victim cannot be identified at this point.

Detectives from the Negaunee Post and the MSP Marquette Forensic Lab are assisting in the investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
