Ishpeming restaurant owner passes away from fire injuries

ISHPEMING, MI— An Ishpeming man has died from injuries he received in a house fire on March 6th.

The fire at 175 Silver Street injured Glenn Andrews, owner of Glenn’s Smokehouse. He and another person escaped the early-morning blaze.

Andrews was taken to U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor for treatment, but he died Sunday of his injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Smokehouse is set to close March 31st.

A celebration of the life of Glenn Andrews will be held Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Barrel and Beam in Marquette.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
