BREITUNG TOWNSHIP, MI— A garage in Breitung Township has been damaged by fire.
Township firefighters were dispatched Monday around 10:45 p.m. to a home on Lakeview Drive. They found heavy flames on the back wall of an attached garage.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire and ventilate the house of heavy smoke. The occupants of the house escaped injury.
Cats, rabbits, and chickens were also in the house. Firefighters were able to rescue three of the rabbits. There’s no information on the condition of the other animals.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
