Cause of Manistique garage fire under investigation

MANISTIQUE, MI— A Manistique garage was severely damaged by fire Tuesday night.

An officer from the Sault Tribe Police Department first saw the fire at 1019 Deer Street and notified Manistique Public Safety officers, who were dispatched around 10:12 p.m. They observed flames and smoke coming from the garage, which wasn’t attached to any other structure.

Firefighters from Public Safety and the Manistique Volunteer Fire Department got the fire under control within minutes. The structure and its contents suffered extensive fire, smoke, and water damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
