Attic fire damages Marquette home

MARQUETTE, MI— No injuries were reported in a Marquette house fire Wednesday morning.

The Marquette Fire Department responded around 8:10 a.m. to the 300 block of West Crescent. They found the homeowners and police in the yard, confirming everyone was out of the home.

Firefighters found smoke and fire in the attic and quickly knocked it down.

Crews continued with salvage and overhaul operations and cleared the scene around 9:40 a.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Marquette City Fire Investigator.

Assisting at the scene were Marquette Township Fire, Chocolay Township Fire, Marquette City Police Department, Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, Marquette Board of Light and Power, and SEMCO.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
