Fire severely damages Wells Township home

WELLS TOWNSHIP, MI— No injuries were reported in a Wells Township house fire Sunday.

The Escanaba Department of Public Safety was dispatched around 10:05 p.m. to 6501 H.25 Road on a report a house was full of smoke. An off-duty officer told Dispatch flames were coming from the back of the residence.

Upon arrival, crews found the back of the house nearly fully engulfed with flames coming through the roof.

Officers battled the blaze for about five hours and remained at the scene for an additional two-and-a-half hours.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Assisting Escanaba Public Safety were the Bark River Township Fire Department, Escanaba Township Fire Department, Ford River Township Fire Department, JC Property Maintenance, Rampart EMS, Delta County Central Dispatch, the Delta County Road Commission, the Delta County Sheriff’s Office, Red Cross, and Michigan State Police.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
