Marquette apartment damaged in fire

MARQUETTE, MI— Residents of a Marquette apartment have been displaced by fire.

Wednesday around 6:50 a.m., the Marquette City Fire Department was called to 427 E. Crescent Street. They found an apartment on the second floor of a three-story building filled with smoke.

Crews searched all floors and evacuated the building. They contained the fire to a back bedroom area.

No injuries were reported.

The Marquette County Pigs-N-Heat Fire Relief Fund is assisting those displaced by the fire.

Assisting at the scene were the Marquette Township and Chocolay Township Fire Departments, Marquette City Police, UPHS EMS, the Marquette Board of Light and Power, and SEMCO.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
