Marquette fire destroys portable sauna

MARQUETTE, MI— No injuries were reported, after a portable sauna caught fire in Marquette Monday.

The Marquette City Fire Department was dispatched at 6:20 p.m. to 614 N. Third Street and found the sauna fully engulfed.

Crews contained flames to the structure and prevented the fire from extending to an adjacent building and vehicle.

The cost of the damage is unknown at this time.

The fire department was assisted at the scene by the Marquette Township and Chocolay Township Fire Departments, Marquette City Police Department, UPHS EMS, and the Marquette Board of Light and Power.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
