Two killed in Ironwood fire

IRONWOOD, MI— Two people died in a house fire in Ironwood Sunday.

The Ironwood Department of Public Safety responded around 7 a.m. to a residence on Greenbush Street. They found the house fully engulfed.

The fire was brought under control around 7:45 a.m..

Upon entry, officers found two occupants who had succumbed to the smoke and flames. Their names are being withheld at this time.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Officials say additional information will be released when it becomes available.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
